Giving Tuesday, or rather #GivingTuesday is Tuesday, December 3, 2019 and this is a great opportunity to kick off your year-end giving.
Giving Tuesday is arguably the most well-known giving day of the year in the U.S., and it’s growing influence across the world has made it even more noteworthy. For many nonprofits and charities like yours, #GivingTuesday serves as a kickoff to the giving season, which spans from after Thanksgiving to the end of the calendar year.
The numbers prove just how powerful this day is for charitable organizations.
In 2017, over 2.5 million individual gifts were made in 150 countries, which raised an astounding 300 million online! And this upcoming #GivingTuesday, which just so happens to be the event’s 7th year, is gearing up to be even more successful and impactful than in years past.
Here are some campaigns to consider for future GIving Tuesday's that will help you drive results:
Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Campaigns
If you want to be successful on #GivingTuesday, consider reaching out to personal fundraisers, those in your organization that support you each and every year. These people serve as ambassadors for your cause by setting up their own fundraising websites or using Facebook Charity plugin, sharing compelling stories about your mission work, their passion for your group, and how their friends and family can give to support. We've seen groups raise a quick $25,000 - $150,000 through ambassadors. Think of enlisting a minimum of 25 ambassadors to see successful results.
It's almost always a good idea to provide your donors with suggested giving amounts. We understand this can backfire occasionally, where a donor who was set to give more, might give less because of the "suggested" amount, but this is rarely the case. What's so great about using tiers is that it allows your organization to get innovative. Think of tying the levels to direct impact or get more creative and use some of the benefits your program recipients experience as the donation tier labels.
Incentives make a difference. You can incentivize your donors through the action of a matching gift. One good deed results in another.
Take to social media and share your stories. The best way to inspire your online audience into action and differentiate your cause from the rest is through video storytelling. Video is perfect because it provides visuals, while also telling your story with context, emotion, and viewers can see your impact firsthand and how they can be part of that mission outcome.
