Lawson was called upon to motivate alumni, to find new sources of potential major gifts including individuals, foundations, and corporations for a $250 million campaign. This all was accomplished and the goal surpassed by $250 million, for a total of $512 million, within the five years designated for the Campaign. Prior to Lawson, Texas Tech had raised $60 million in its earlier record-breaking campaign.

Lawson is engaged to help Mercury One with their $160 million Capital Campaign to create the American Journey Experience and Museum which will become an international destination for academic researchers, school children, families, tourists, and residents of the Dallas / Ft. Worth metroplex. The mission is to educate, enlighten, inspire and engage lifelong learners about the background, birth, history, and evolution of the American Journey. The American Journey timeline is a five-year Development and Capital Campaign.
Lawson began a three-year engagement with the Texas State Historical Association whose educational initiatives and programs seek to encourage and improve the teaching of Texas history for the next generation. The Capital Campaign & leadership team management was launched in support of their annual operating budget. Each year 1.5 million students and 18,000 teachers are assisted by the TSHA organization.
Lawson engaged with Big Brothers Big Sisters International spanning the past decade to aid the Board of Directors’ strategic planning efforts and general fundraising for the Annual Campaign. With an international reach, the organization continues to help children around the world reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships.
When asked to serve the Duke Forward Capital Campaign, the largest fundraising campaign in Duke University history, Lawson assisted in the planning and fundraising efforts which concluded by raising $3.85 billion over the past seven years. Record giving by donors & foundations helped propel the campaign team to exceed their goal.
Asked to raise over $10 million for what was the largest Salvation Army campaign in its territory, Lawson responded by assisting in the raising of over $11 million. This included securing the largest grant ever by the Kresge Foundation to a local Salvation Army. Over a 13 year period, Lawson continued supporting various Salvation Army locations in their successful fundraising initiatives
In the middle of a major recession, Lawson managed the successful $5 million campaign for the Southern California Pacific Symphony Orchestra. The theme of this campaign, "From Better to Best", is an accurate description of what Lawson strives to accomplish for all its clients.
When asked by the John Templeton Foundation in Pennsylvania to direct a major fundraising effort for the Forgiveness Campaign sponsored by the foundation, Lawson assisted the Foundation by raising over $1.5 million to assure this Campaign's success. This campaign brought the Lawson team in contact with such international figures as Bishop Tutu of South Africa.
